After installing your PetCare Hidden Fence, we personally instruct you and your pet using our exclusive GentleStart™ training methods and we hold your hand until conditioning is complete with unlimited support. Our simple and humane program guides you and your pet through the learning, awareness and testing phase. Our training program is so radically different from all other high shock, pain-based training methods that within minutes, our clients realize that their fears for their dogs comfort were unfounded. At PetCare Hidden Fence, we believe that a true containment professional is not just someone who can contain your dog, but someone who has the experience and ability to allow your dog to happily learn and accept their boundaries with the least amount of discomfort.
With GentleStart™ training, the initial stimulation is so tiny that most dogs don’t notice it at first. In fact, we typically ask our clients to feel the tingle before
their dog! Of course, this level will not keep your pet home in the long run, but your pet is on a leash at this time and is being gently guided through awareness of their new boundary, and
eventually into containment a few days later at a higher stimulation levels.
You may have noticed our white flags in yards and neighborhoods throughout the Northshore area. Our training program is combined with a temporary visual flag boundary and an audible beep from the dog's digital receiver collar. During training, your pet constantly receives
lots of praise, hugs, pets, and rewards. Our initial focus is to help them understand the yard as a safe, happy place – their “territory”. This learning occurs before your pet receives more
than the tiniest of stimulations from the collar. Afterward, during the testing phase, your dog learns the consequences of going beyond their
assigned territory, out of the “safe and happy area”. Our calm and assertive training helps your dog understand that they can control the shock and beep by simply backing away and avoiding
it entirely in the future. (We are not aware of any other hidden fence company that encourages you to teach for as long as us, as other companies sometimes rely heavily on intimidating and
severely shocking your pet within the first few minutes of training.)
“For our first two dogs, we used Invisible Fence®. During their training, our dogs were shocked so hard I was in tears. When I noticed that my neighbor had a different company (PetCare Hidden Fence), put a system in, I walked over and cautioned her about my experience. Mike asked me to feel the stimulation on the collar he was about to train her dog with - I was nervous and reluctant but agreed. I was surprised when I could barely feel anything, but completely dumbfounded as I watched Mike train dogs twice the size of mine, with practically nothing more than a tickle and a beep. On the spot, I asked Mike to remove the Invisible Fence® equipment from our garage and I traded in all our collars for his recommendations. If only I had known about PetCare Hidden Fence and their GentleStart™ training method to start with…”

GentleStart™ is so successful that the International Association of Canine Professionals awards certification in this process. GentleStart™ is a personalized derivative of LowStress Training, a revolutionary training approach in the containment field created in 2001 by behavior expert Rich Weinssen, and developed in association with PetCare Hidden Fence owner Mike Myhal and Roger McCoy of Kansas City. The GentleStart™" training method is so successful that we have only given one refund in nearly FOURTEEN years, and we did so voluntarily before ever starting the training program because it was immediately evident to us that the dog's owner did not want to follow our advice and training procedures-he just wanted to shock his dog.
Statistics prove that a high-shock, negative approach to training is only successful approximately 50% of the time.
The reason our method works is simple: Unlike dogs trained by companies still using the inhumane and archaic methods of 35 years ago, our client’s dogs are rewarded with calm and assertive positive reinforcement-based training that rewards their curiosity and bravery so they are not afraid to learn and eventually accept their boundaries. These dogs do not stay in the house or sit on the porch in fear of the yard. PETCARE HIDDEN FENCE dogs stay home!
